Cranberry juice, with its well-known health benefits for urinary tract infections, often comes with a forgotten kick: its intense sourness! While that tartness might be a shock to the system for some, we believe sour flavors can be beautifully balanced with the right sweet counterparts. That’s the inspiration behind our unique “Sour Babe” cocktail.
This isn’t just another drink; it’s a delightful experiment in flavor balance, made even more special by the inclusion of essential oils from Dr. Hermann’s Essentials. We’re taking a classic sour base and transforming it into a layered, complex, and utterly enjoyable experience.
Needed Ingredients:
To craft your very own “Sour Babe,” gather the following:
- Cranberry juice: The star of our sour show.
- Licor 43: A Spanish liqueur that brings a wonderful sweet, vanilla, and citrus complexity.
- Vodka: A neutral spirit to provide a clean base.
- Tequila: You have options! Choose either brown tequila, aged in wooden barrels for up to 3 years (Reposado or Añejo) for a smoother, richer note, or white tequila (Blanco or Silver), which is bottled immediately after distillation for a bolder, purer agave flavor.
- Heavy cream: To add a luscious, creamy texture and further balance the sourness.
- Citrus Oil Mix in extra virgin olive oil: Our secret ingredient from Dr. Hermann’s Essentials, adding a vibrant and aromatic citrus boost.
Cocktail Preparation:
This DIY cocktail is fun to make and even more fun to drink. Here’s how to prepare your “Sour Babe”:
- Start by adding 2 to 3 ice cubes into your chosen cocktail glass.
- Pour in ½ shot glass of cranberry juice.
- Next, add 1 shot glass of Licor 43.
- Follow with ½ shot glass of vodka.
- Add ¾ shot glass of tequila (your chosen type).
- Give 3 to 4 sprays of our Citrus Oil Mix – this is where the unique aroma and flavor come in!
- Carefully and slowly add ¼ shot glass of heavy cream on top. The goal is to create a distinct layer of cream floating on the surface for a beautiful visual effect.
- Before taking your first sip, mix thoroughly to combine all the delicious layers.
- Finally, garnish your drink with a thin slice of orange, lemon, or lime. You can place it either on top of the drink or on the rim of the glass.
