Finishing Butter

Another way of turning ordinary everyday food into a culinary treasure is by using Dr Hermann essential oils. This is called finishing butter(s).

It is very simple to turn ordinary butter into gourmet butter. You need 1 stick of butter and some essential oil. Good candidates for making finishing butter are the oils of:

  • Lemon
  • Rosemary
  • Sage
  • Basil
  • Immortelle
  • Cinnamon
  • Thyme
  • Ginger

What you need is:        

  • Butter, 1 stick, equal to 100 gr or 3.5 oz
  • Essential oil 5 ml, equal to 0.17 oz.

Cut the butter stick into 8 equal tablespoon-sized pieces. Place the butter pieces into a cup and melt the butter in the microwave until liquid (approximately 20 to 30 seconds). Add 5 mL of essential oil, by filling the dropper up to the 1 mL mark 5-times (see images below). Mix the oil thoroughly with the liquid butter. Pour the mixture into a dish and occasionally mix while the butter solidifies.

This lemon butter goes well with any type of fish or seafood, just spread it over the hot food. Lemon butter also tastes good with a slice of toasted bread and jelly of any kind.
